To support people in Bridport and the surrounding area by providing freshly cooked food and friendship, and to assist with linking them to other support as appropriate. The kitchen is a designated warm space and we seek for it to be a safe and positive environment for all.
Bridport Community Kitchen is founded on the Biblical mandate for social justice and focuses on creating an environment where hope is alive by ‘comforting the broken-hearted and proclaiming that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed’ Isaiah 61.1
Bridport Community Kitchen started as a Soup Kitchen at Beacon Church in November 2019 as a response to God’s calling to His body in Bridport to serve the local community. Initially our intention was to support the small homeless community but once we had opened our doors, we discovered that a wider range of needs (Alcohol and substance abuse, mental health issues etc) needed to be addressed.
We aim to provide meals, clothing, shelter, support, signposting to other government and voluntary agencies, showering and laundry facilities, and a safe place, for vulnerable, isolated people in our community in a non- judgmental, accepting environment.
The Community Kitchen relies fully on donations to meet all its costs. Our goal is to achieve monthly sustainable funding to guarantee funding all year round.
Please consider donating regularly or making a gift using the ‘donate’ button which will take you to the ‘Just Giving’ page.
